Lord Jagannath is the main deity of this temple, who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is home to three deities - Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra.

Architecture

Origin of the Name - The main attraction of this temple is the “Old Banyan Tree” which is known as “Bata” in Odia language. So the name of this temple is “Chhatia Bata” due to this old banyan tree which is present inside the temple boundary.

The temple was built in Orissan style of architecture. The height of the boundary wall is nearly 20 to 22 feet.

Religious Significance

Hadidas mentions this temple in the saga Maalika, predicting that "on a day when all living animals and human will die and fish will play at the steps of puri temple".

History

 The temple was built in 15th century A.D. Saint Mahapurusa Hadi Das Samadhi Pitha is there in the temple.
