Architecture

Hariharnath Temple has a grabha gudi gopuram, it is in the bank of river gandak and constructed in a simple architecture.

Religious Significance

According to Hindu religious beliefs, a king named Indradyumna became an elephant by the curse of Agastya Muni and a crocodile by the curse of Gandharva Deval Muni named Huhu. In the transfer, there was a war between Gaja (elephant) and crocodile at the confluence of Ganga and Gandak at Sonpur.  According to the legend, there was a war of years between Gaja and Graha (crocodile) at Konhraghat near this. Gaja was later conquered with the help of Lord Vishnu . According to another legend, Jai and Vijay were two brothers, Jai was a devotee of Shiva and Vijay Vishnu. There was a fight between these two and both became yards and grahas. Later, the two became friends there, with the temples of both Shiva and Vishnu built together, which gave it the name Hariharkshetra. According to some people, in ancient times, there was a huge conference of sages and sages here and there was serious debate between Shaivas and Vaishnavas but later there was reconciliation and the idols of both Shiva and Vishnu were established in the same temple. The same is held in memory on the full moon day in Kartik. According to another belief, Lord Rama had established the temple of his charitable Lord Shankar on the banks of the Ganges and the Gandak River while going to Janakpur from Ayodhya to Buxar in Dhanush Yagya and after worshiping in this temple.

History

Then in 1860, the Empress of Tekari built a Dharamshala in the temple complex. The remaining three porches of the temple complex were built in 1871 by Maharana Jungbahadur of Nepal. 1934 earthquakeIn the temple building, the porch and the perkota were damaged. After this the Birla family rebuilt it.
