The temple faces East and contains many inscriptions and sculptures of excellent beauty. The temple is having 3 tiered Rajagopuram. The temple has 2 Prakarams. There is a closed gate at the western side also in the outer Prakaram.
History
Karapureeswarar Thiruparkadal is a Vaippu Sthalam included in one of the Thevaram Hymns of Thirunavukkarasar (7th Century C.E). Karapureeswarar Thiruparkadal has many inscriptions one of which is said to belong to the period of Parantaka Chola (10th Century C.E).
