God

The presiding deity of this temple is Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu facing East direction. Here the Lord idol is 7 feet high with Four arms, the upper two arms hold Shanka and Chakra while the lower hands portrays “Abhaya mudra” and “Varada mudra”.

Goddess

Sri Padmavathi, Sri Andalamma shrines are in temple courtyard. They are consorts of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Sri Padmavathi idol is 3ft in sitting position with 4 hands, located at left side of main deity. Sri Andalamma idol is standing position with 2 hands, located at right side of main deity. The idol of Sri Andal Ammavaru was installed by Lord Brahma in this temple.

Dress Code

  • For men the dress code is Shirt & Trouser, Dhoti or Pyjamas with upper cloth.

  • These rules are applicable for foreigners also. Shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short-length T-shirts are not allowed.

Architecture

Lord Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy with "ABHAYA HASTA" here, So this temple named as Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy. The temple is Dravidian style of architecture and faces East direction. The temple consists of a 3 tier gopuram with 5 kalasas. Temple has 2 prakarams (temple walls), Wooden Dhwaja Stambham with copper plates with Gold covering on it. Temple contains two mandapas that is Mukha mandapam, Garuda mandapam. Garuda mandapam hosts a beautiful idol of Garuda joining his hands with obedience and is seen facing the Lord’s idol. One more prakaram (corridor) is located around 10 feet inside main prakaram.

Temple pond named Amruta Sarovaram is infront of the temple. Temple is built with Granite stone and deity is made of Saligrama Sila.

Religious Significance

This is the place where the Lord Venkateswara Swamy graced the conglomeration of Sri Siddeshwara and other sages on the occasion of his marriage. As the temple was the place for the Lord's union with his consort Sri Padmavathi ammavaru, here he is considered the most pleasant and granting. The pilgrims believe that a glimpse of this Lord will fulfill wish since the Lord is in Abhaya Hasta posture. Another important feature of this ancient temple is the presence of Lord Vayu – Wind God who liberates devotees suffering from chronic diseases. This temple comes under Venkata Chala Mahatyam. 

History

Temple built by Sri Venkata Perumalaraju Brahmadeva Maharaj in 1232 A.D. For every 12 years there will be some renovation. We can see the major contributions of Karveti Nagara Kings in the inscriptions of the temple.
