Goddess
Maariamman is the main deity of this temple, who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi. The main deity in the sanctum is made of sand and clay and hence there are no abhishekams conducted to the main deity, but instead the abishekam is done to the small stone statue in front of it.
Interesting Facts
- Mother Mariamman undergoes a fast for the welfare of mankind for 28 days from the last Sunday of Masi month (February-March).
- During these days no cooked preparation is offered as nivedhana but only some flour, orange, grapes and green coconut. For completing this fasting, abishek is offered to Amman only with flowers – Poo in Tamil and this event is known as Poo Choridal.

Dress Code
- For men the dress code is Shirt & Trouser, Dhoti or Pyjamas with upper cloth.
- For women the preferred dress code is saree or half-saree with blouse or chudidhar with pyjama and upper cloth.
- These rules are applicable for foreigners also. Shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short-length T-shirts are not allowed.
- Pilgrims/visitors will not be allowed inside the temple if dress code is not followed.

Architecture
Sri Maariamman Temple has a 5 tier Rajagopuram, Dwaja Stambham is coated with Golden metal and has placed inside Rajagopuram.
Sakthi Theertham :
- This is the sub river of the Great River Cauvery.
- It's called as "PERUVALAI VAAIKAAL". It's called as Punitha Sakthi Theertham. It situated in south side of South Car street.
Mahamaayee Theertham :
- It's situated north west side of samayapuram maariamman temple and left side to Samayapuram, near Tiruchi-Chennai highway.
- This Theertam used for Thepporsava Festival, At the time of Mahamaham here Water become more.
Jadaayu Theertham :
- This holy tank situated the south side of Arulmigu Kanagaambikai Udanurai Sri Muktheeswarar Temple and the South East side of Arulmigu Maariamman Temple.
- This theertham related to the epic of Raamaayana. God give mukthi to Jadaayu in this place.
Ganga Theertham :
- This is near to the easter side of Arulmigu Ujjaini Ohm Kaaliamman Temple(Sub temple of Arulmigu Maariamman Temple) and south east side of Arulmigu Maariamman Temple.
- As per Vikiramaathithan prayer River Gangaa Devi appeared here. For Vikiramaathitha's Kaali Pooja, this theertham used.
- This is the most powerful theertham to rectify diseases, pshcylogical disorders.
History
This temple was 1000-2000 years old and It is believed that King Dasaratha worshipped Mariamman at Samayapuram.
