Architecture

Nagareshwara Temple built by Soap stone. Temple consists 60+ huge lathe turned pillars across its main hallway. This temple consists of a closed hall that connects to a large open hall or Mahamantapa and Nandimantapa. The temple was built in honor of the Hindu god Shiva based on the two short inscriptions in the temple, which begin with a salutation to "Shambu". There are other inscriptions in the temple, two of which are dated 1138 C.E. and one dated 1091 that record grants to the god "Nagaresvaradeva".

History

The temple came under heavy attacks during the reign of the Bahamanis and Adil Shah. This temple was built in 12th century by Kalyani Chalukyas.
