Veera Narayana Swamy is the main deity of this temple, who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The main deity is 8 feet height with facing in East direction. Sri.Veeranarayana swamy stands with four hands, holding the Pashankusha in his right hand, Gadha in his left hand. The other two hand are in position where in the Last finger, Ring finger and Middle finger are half closed, the Index finger is half closed but held up above the rest, the thumb is also half folded in the left hand has weapon.
Goddess Sridevi and Bhoodevi are the consorts of Sri Veeranarayana, stays on the either sides of prime deity.

Architecture
Sri Veera Naryana Temple was facing in East direction. The Navaranga of Veeranarayana shrine has beautiful bell shaped pillars, many lathe turned Pillars and the Pillars of this Mantapa are so smooth. There are a total of 108 Lathe turned pillars in this temple no two are alike. Hoysala Style, built in the Trikuta style with three Vimanas and those Vimanas beautifully decorated with various images. The tower of the shrine below the kalasa consists of three tiers of decorated miniature roofs. The prabhavali is well decorated with Dashavathara as the theme and makara. This temple was built with Soapstone.
Temple Walls : The Sukanasi and the walls are covered in bold sculptures, the figures that stand out are the ones of Krishna dancing on Kaliya and of Garuda. The inner walls of this shrine are plain, but its roofs are well decorated. A panel of Hindu deities and their attendants (frieze) are below this eves followed by a set of five moldings that form the base of the wall. Outer walls are fully decorated with big sculptures of hindu deities and Beautiful Designs. The surrounding walls of Pradakshina path along the temple have various images of Vishnu Avatara, Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesha.
Mandapams : Huge Navaranga completely filled with beautifully carved pillars. Another Navaranga is richly decorated with superb ceilings depicting various stories from Bhagavatha. The Nagamandala is quite unique design where one finds it impossible to find the end of the Naga(Serpent God). The Shrine has one closed Mandapa and one open Mandapa, one with 13 bays and one with nine bays. It has the largest joint mandapam of any Hoysala temple with 59 bays.
Religious Significance
The place is described as Ekachakranagara of Mahabharata and is said to be the place where Pandava Prince Bheema killed the demon Bakasura and protected the village and its people. The village of Belavadi is believed to have a lot of historical significance due to the presence of the Veera Narayana temple which was constructed by the Hoysalas and for the legend of Belavadi Mallamma who was a fearless warrior and queen who fought against Shivaji, the Maratha King thereby winning his admiration in the 17th century A.D.
