It is one of the largest and best preserved early historic fortifications in India, with the earliest occupation both inside and outside the later sites Northern rampart around 7th to 6th centuries B.C. Conservation Management Plan for the ancient site of Sisupalgarh dating to the 3rd Century B.C. The preparation of the Site Management Plan included defining a conservation strategy and approach and outlining the Statement of Outstanding Significance based on the historicity of the archaeological site, among the oldest surviving fortifications from the ancient period. The Site Management Plan addressed the factors affecting the site, that included development pressures, visitor facilities, management issues and the site’s interpretation.
