Architecture
The Temple tower(Raja Gopuram) at the entrance was built in 1851 AD by Swetha Chalapati Ranga Rao & It is the only temple in the region where the Gopuram is higher than the main temple. The base of the Gopuram is made of solid stone while the six stories over it are made of stone and brick masonry.The base of the Gopuram itself is approximately 9 meters high. Mantaps inside the temple was built by the King Krishna Das Ranga Rao in 1825 A.D. The Vasanth Mantap stands separately in the waters of Narayana Pushkarini(Temple Tank). This temple Gopuram constructed with Solid stone.
History
The temple of Venugopala Swamy had been in existence since Bobbili was founded. After the ill-fated battle of Bobbili, one Chinna Ranga Rao took over the reins of Bobbili. He then reconstructed the Venugopala swamy temple that is located close to the royal residence and is the most revered temple in Bobbili.
