Architecture

Sun Temple is also known as Padmanabha Temple, Big Temple, and Temple of Seven Friends. The architecture of this temples resembles to that of Konark Sun Temple and the temple of Khajuraho. The construction of the temple is like the chariot of the sun, in which seven horses are withering, similarly the foundation stone of this temple is seem like seven horses are there. There is a statue of Lord Vishnu in the womb of the temple. Colonel James Tod also gave it the name of the quadrilateral temple (Chaturbhuja Mandir).

To enter the temple, the Toran Gate is made from three sides. There is a pavilion in the middle which is hinged on huge columns. Teaming art on pillars is amazing. The murtiya temple, which is engraved on the three sides of the temple outside the womb of the temple and the idol of the temple, is a unique example of architecture. The top of the temple is about 97 feet high from the ground floor. The inner sanctum has to be reached crossing a vast “Mandapa”, a pillared hall was locals were seen sitting down and relaxing for a while beyond performing their spiritual duties. Each of the 52 pillars has intricate carvings of various deities and other celestial beings such as Gandharvas and Apsaras. The top of the pillars have the “bharavahaka” sculptures symbolically carrying the burden of the roof. The most wonderful thing is that the idol of Virgit sadhu on the four sides of the temple, the arrangement of these idols is so beautiful that this idol is absolutely alive, it seems as if a sadhu is really turning around. Statue of thumb and thumb of the fingers is worth seeing. The hairstyle of the statues, the jata, the turban and the Mukha kraya or the other person also feels absolutely alive.

The idol of the heroines in the left side of the temple is so charming and sensual that you start wondering about the idols of this temple that they made the idols of this temple and made it with hammers or magic. The beauty of the idols of the heroines engraved on the outer part of the temple overwhelms you. Bodybuilding has become so napa-bent, and Bhavimaye Bhangima too is so lively that you feel that all these things will become alive at night. The whole world is engraved around the temple, the sculptors have. Perhaps the sculptor will honor his own souls while making idols.

History

The construction of this temple was made by Nag Bhatt-II in Vikram Samvat, accordingly it built in A.D 815.
