Religious Significance

It is believed that in the year 1823, the then King Ramchandra Dhaval Dev of Dhalbhumgarh (present day Ghatshila region) got a dream to install the idol of the mother and worship at Chaibasa. The king got up in the morning and started inquiring about the special brains according to the dream. It is learned that that particular Brahmin is from Jaikrishnapur village in Bankura district, West Bengal, whose name is Jagannath Gangopadhyay. When the king's messenger approached Jagannath Gangopadhyay in this context, he became emotional. He said that he had the same dream. The king was surprised to hear this, since by that time Gangopadhyay was old and recounted the whole incident to his elder son Khetro Mohan and recounted the whole incident to his elder son Khetro Mohan Gangopadhyay, who was conferred with the title Rai by the King of Vardhman State. On the father's orders, Khetro Mohan, accompanied by the king's sent messenger, accompanied his elder son Balaram to Chaibasa and served the dignity of the temple of the Mother Goddess at the same special place. After installing the statue of the mother, she requested the king that how would I leave my home family, farming, job and stay in Chaibasa. My son Balaram will serve his mother. Having said this, Khetro Mohan returned to Bankura. Thus Balarama was appointed by the king as a service. After this, worship and worship started there, which continues till today.
