Religious Significance
Around 800 years ago, there was a huge anthill that was worshipped by many. One day a member of the royal family (of Madras) was passing by (on his way to Madras), when he saw a huge crowd gathered near the anthill. On asking, the people informed him that on performing poojas and worshipping Nagaraja (Sri Subrahmanya Swamy), the deity would dispel their difficulties and bring good will have hence gathered to do the same. Astonished by the fact, the royal member went to Madras to inform the same to the another royal member who was suffering from faulty vision. The member with faulty vision was suggested to pray to the deity to get relieved of his distorted vision. Upon worshipping the deity, the royal member regained his vision and built the temple next to the anthill. With further additions and improvements, sri subrahmanya temple is among the oldest and beautiful temples of Ulsoor.
