Venkataramana Swamy is the main deity of this temple, here deity will be in a standing posture with four hands one in varada posture, one placed over thigh and other two holding Shanka and Sudarshana Chakra. The deity is decorated with precious ornaments.

Architecture
The temple is situated near Kote (fort), kote means fort in kannada, it is known as Kote Venkataramana Temple. Entrance to the temple complex is through huge doors with a gopura (tower), Dravidian style and a single stone structure, Garuda Sthamba is an attractive feature of the temple. The temple also features four huge pillars with amazing carvings of Navaranga sculptures and the ornate stone pillars supported by splendid lion brackets. The complex consists of a mantapa (hall) with pillars,the hall ceiling is supported by pillars that have "clusters of colonettes" alternating with yalis (mythical beasts from Hindu legend) in all four directions. This appears on each of the central columns, the temple’s stone walls around the sanctum and the sanctum represents the Girija kalyana featuring various idols including Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara, saptha matrukes, saptha rishis and ashta dikpalakas.
History
This temple was built in 15th century by Maharajah Sri Chikkadevaraja Wadeyar and Kanteerava Narasaraja Wadeyar is the contributor of this temple.
Threat during invasions : In 1791 during Mysore war, aimed bullets at Tipu Sultan by British army under the instructions of Lord Carnvalis hit the temples Garuda Gamba (Pillar) and saved the kings life. The very fact made Tipu Sultan and Hyder having enormous respect towards the temple and making it represent Hindu and Muslim unity.
