Architecture
In Hindi Ghat means mountain range and this temple of Lord Subramanya is located in the mountain ranges. Ghati is believed to be the place where Lord Subramanya killed a demon called Ghatikasura. Sri Ghati Subramanya Swamy temple is facing in East direction. The high pyramid shaped gateway tower of the temple is one of the most distinctive features, a perfect example of Dravidian architecture. In Grabha Gudi Lord Subramanya sitting on a peacock placed in the temple sanctum and Kumaratheertha is Pushkarini in this temple.
Religious Significance
Ghati is the place where Lord Subramanya performed a strict penance in the guise of a serpent. He did penance on these hill ranges before battling with the demon Tharakasura. It is the same place where Lord Subramanya prayed Lord Narasimha Swamy to offer protection for the Naga’s family from the mighty Garuda. Garuda the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu is known for his enmity towards Serpent family.
History
This temple was built in 16th century by Ghorpade from Sandur Dynasty.
